June 2013 Open Gaming Night 7-10 pm Every Wednesday

Every Wednesdays @ GOB Retail will be an open gaming day, so anyone can come on in and play anything they want. Magic, Warmachine, Heroclix, board games, RPGs, etc. Whatever you want. In forthcoming weeks we may begin to schedule some specific gaming events for Wednesdays, but that won't change it being open play for everything else as well.

May-June 2013 Warmachine / Hordes and other Miniature gaming Events

Miniature Demo Game Day Saturday June 29th Noon-3 pm. One Saturday per month, GOB Retail will be hosting a Miniatures Demo Day. Generally from noon to 3pm on the designated Saturdays, we will have volunteer of game company representatives here to showcase some of the miniature games that we well and help to show these games to potential new players and run demos for those that are interested. We often get a lot of interest in the assorted miniature games that we sell, but players would like to see them in action before jumping in with both feet. Warmachine / Hordes League 2nd Season @ GOB League run between Saturday 4th May - 8th June, 2013 $8 entry. Prizes support: Store Credit (how much depends on participants) Starting May 4th, 2013. The last day of league play is scheduled for June 6th, with the concluding event on June 8th. Anyone wants to join the league, please stop by the store to sign up. Detail is below: For those of you familiar with the GOB League seasons from last year, we are bringing back the Escalating Point Cap. For those unfamiliar with this, each week will have a maximum point size for any given match for all players. League games are NOT required to be played at the maximum size; players are allowed to play at the point cap or smaller games. Team games have a different point cap which is based on per player and NOT per team. Here is the schedule for the point cap: May 4th-10th: 25 points; 15 points per player (team games) May 11th-17th: 35 points; 25 points per player (team games) May 18th-24th: 50 points; 35 points per player (team games) May 25th-31st: 75 points; 50 points per player (team games) June 1st-6th: 100 points; 75 points per player (team games) Unbound games are an exception to the above point caps. Every player may partake in 1 solo Unbound game (one-on-one) and 1 team Unbound game each week without restriction to the point cap. Also making a return will be the Opponent Restriction. Players may play against a given opponent a number of times (over the course of the league) equal to how many total opponents they have WILL have faced after that match. For example, Player A plays against Player B once, now Player A can play against any opponent 1 time. When Player A plays against Player C, Player A may now play against any opponent twice. NOTE: since the Opponent Restriction is based on how many opponents you will have faced after your match, your restriction is increased by the number of members on your opposing team in Team Games. At the start of a Booster Draft, each player opens a booster pack and picks the card he or she wants from it. (You can't see the cards that the other players draft.) Then each player passes the rest of the pack to his or her left. You pick up the pack that was passed to you, select a card, and pass the rest to your left. This process continues until all the cards have been drafted. Next, each player opens a second pack, but this time, you pass the pack to your right. After all those cards are drafted, you open the third pack and pass to the left again Once all the packs have been drafted, players build decks from the cards they selected, adding as many basic lands (Plains, Islands, Swamps, Mountains, and Forests) to their decks as they like. Each deck must have at least 40 cards. Each pair of players then plays a match, which consists of the best two out of three games. In the next round, the winners play against other winners (and the losers against the losers, if you like). The player who wins all three roundsor all three matchesis the winner. It's a great way to spend a few hours with your buddies. Prize support : - June's prize foil: Izzet Charm - 1st and 2nd place receive one prize card each plus booster (quantity depends on participations) - Door prize: The tournament organizer will award the remaining two prize cards to two players that did not place first or second.

Casual Magic League 2nd Season@ GOB Retail Free to Play. Starts: Thursday May 9th     Ends: Friday June 21st Championship Tournament: Thursday June 27th After Start, players can play any days to collect the gaming points during store hours. Recommend to use GOB Gamer Finder to communicate with other Players for gaming schedules and timing. Official Magic Casual Game Day @ GOB Retail is Every Thursday 6.30 - 10 pm The next league will be changing things up a bit. Firstly, the league will be running just 6 weeks and ending on Friday the 19th of April. The top 8 placed league players will be invited to play in a tournament to be held on Thursday, April 25th. Like before, you will be able to play a variety of deck formats. We are dropping the Iron Man format for this league, but adding Extended and Modern formats. Additionally, this time around, our Legency format will be following Wizards deck building rules. The top 3 winners of the league shall win prizes (to be announced) and the winner of the league ending event will win a near mint condition Wasteland. In the league ending tournament, like in the league, players will be able to chose the deck format they play in each round of play and will score points for wins accordingly.
